fa’aPOLYtics
Tired of the same governing bodies telling the same stories about the same people? Start speaking out on the issues or you might as well make them known here with fa’aPOLYtics!
Whether politically correct or incorrect it won’t hurt to talk about it would it? We’ll leave that up to you because we definitely look forward to reading what you have to say the fa’aPOLYtics way…

Today I was havin’ one of them intellectually packed conversations with a co-worker about the American Samoa government and it’s current status. Of course the big word CORRUPTION came up in the conversation but then we started getting into the part where we realized that most all major projects taken on by the AS government and promised to the people usually don’t get point into action until the time of elections….
It was at this grand moment that I, with my humble sincere thoughts had entered into a serene state of enlightenment. It was so mind blowing I’m still in awe over the fact that I thought it up…. I asked that buddy co-worker of mine,
“dude, since all major improvements promised to the people of American Samoa don’t get acted on till the moment of elections why can’t we have elections every year then?
I mean think about it, that’ll mean that at the end of every year a major improvement or optimization for American Samoa would actually be carried out within the same year that it was promised because candidates would be so eager to keep with the people’s favor. They’d be on their toes trying to hustle the votes at all times.”
My buddy started catchin’ my drift and went on his rendition of the possibilities. He said somethin’ bout election costs goin’ down so that people wouldn’t have to be heavily spending about it seeing as it happens every year, and then there’s the fact that it would be hella difficult for a government official to keep buying people’s votes….. (I think I get what he means by that) anyhow the idea was set and it was like seeing the light at the end of the tunnel for the both of us, well make that maybe just me.
What’s your say? Any comments or suggestions? If not let’s talk bout anything else that’s been eatin’ at ya concerning our leaders and stuff. till then,

I think you have a clever plan, but no plan is perfect. Though it does sound like a remedy to try and get our island improved, i personally think it would be just too hard on everyone.Think of all the stress of not the running candidates, but the relatives that have to choose and hide their preferred vote, so as to not to disrespect their other relative..cough cough…running candidate! ( it’s nothing like having more than one family member running at the same time! believe me i know!). It’s just too bad that action only happens before an election and not after! I think the process could be improved. but it won’t change onvernight.I hope this election will be different, meaning that people will vote based on the candidates platform, and not their bloodline, because i believe that would be the first step in a new direction. What do you think Mr. Administrator?! Anyone else have any other good idea’s on how to steer this government into the right direction? Hope we getz a crowd up in hea! Drop sum fa’aPOLYtics knowledge and let’s get our island moving in the right direction! Peace out and stay safe beboz!

Greeting my brothers. Its good we get to talk about Polytics in here. Let me add my 1 cent into this conversation shall i? Thank you! We all have our own version of Polotics and we all have our own opinions. I like the idea of having the “Elections” every year and i see it as a step into a change but, it all comes down to what EQ was saying. FAMILY! who suffers the most during election time? the families not the person running for office. If everyone wants CHANGE, than like EQ said, Vote according to their Platform and not how you are related to him or her or to that Candidate. Plus, in this system we live in, the only change we going to see is the new face that will be Governor. “If” other Candidates can win this year. I belive that, no matter who the Governor will be, things will always be the same. Name changes, Year changes but, the CORRUPTION will always be upon us. No matter what!
I’ll be back with more ut, as for now, i need to go home now.
God Bless,
RevD.

Sweet, I like that family part EQ and Rev. you both made a hella good point on that, when you think about it, things seem to be a sort of twisted democracy here where the person with the biggest family usually comes out on top in terms of politics… It’s nearly impossible to steer away from these types of practices already ingrained and embedded into our type of society.
I was reexamining my thoughts about elections being held yearly when I had another moment of clarity cuz of you 2. I’m here trying to figure out how to get the governing officials to do stuff for optimizing our island when damn why count on them guys for, I mean crap I could just go out there and fix it myself….
I’m already hearing in my head the pro’s and cons of this but in actuality I’m thinking this approach may hold a greater chance of becoming executed. I think the key is getting past the question of where can I get the backing and support to take on the projects… which again leads back to politics… circles, circles, circles…

GO LAKERS…opps my bad!
Indeed such politics have eroded the mind of those who want to do something right. These people were once in our shoes ,lost sight of where their humble beginings started from and who they drew nigh from. Now tell me if you haven’t gotten to that threshold…and behold …what you thought was pure, simply logical and decent, became mutant. You become one of many happy campers.Lets corrupt and defile all upward spiral movement to cease improvement within our cultural surroundings. Hell, ASG is on a down spin.Tell me something good…tell me that you love me….tell me something good …tell me that you like it….ohhhhhhhhhhh yeah yeah yeah.Stop complaining and vote for the hand that feeds you so you can blog on dude …feel me dawng. This is just a Francis Bacon perspective off the tenderloin street.
Thanks Zebra for the tap!

All the things said on this blog i belive was not an attack on anyone, nor complaining bout anything. I truly believe, its peoples opinions and thoughts on how things are for our Islnad and Government. I do agree with HR on ASG is “on a Down spin” and its going down further if “we all” dont do anyting about it. And guess what? if we all do something bout it, all it will do is Slow Down The “Down Fall” cos we cant stop it! People nowaday are hugry for power, thus when they run for office they use FAMILY. But when they get what they want, the “That Family orthe Winning side” gets whatever they want and not everybody wants, which is a better Government, better living, and a better system for each and everyone of us. Yes, i do agree with HR on all of us starting from a humble begining, which is the best times in our lives where we all appreciate every little that we get and love what we got. Like i said before, no matter how we try and how much we put in on trying to better things, it will only Slow down the Down Spiral of this system. Yes, the Rebate checks was good (for a day or two..lmao) the pay raise is ok ($.50 increase for the cannery workers). Im not complaning but, its the way i see things, more like an “OPININON”. now, its that ime of year again, and we see everybody talking and askin bout who is running and all that. My Opinion? Let the current Administration complete their four year term and see what they have to offer. And when they are done, then, we have the elections to determine who the next Gov. & Lt. Gov would be and how will they do! Thats what i “THINK”!?!?!?!. Thats all from me now, you all have a nice day and a blessed week.
Much Respect,
RevD.

This all gets more interestin’ every time I’m back in here, HR and Rev spearheads the subject with a focused sense of perspective. Speaking of perspectives, I’ma stick with Rev D’s explanation of how this blog is about taking action and making it happen instead of complaining.
One thing though Rev. and HR Block, for years we’ve been dong the same thing of waiting to let the Governor and Lt. Governor live out their term only to find in the end that of all they’ve promised maybe an estimated 35 percent gets actually gets enacted for the people of American Samoa, and an even lower percentage of that actually helps the people out.
I’ve mentioned before that rather than use the hurry up and wait technique I want to be out there makin’ it happen. There are dozens of things that many of us individuals can do which can optimize the communities around us. My experience with public media has taught me that those who go the extra mile get all the attention and as an Entertainer I know that rule first hand.
We can sit around and wait for the elections but we’d have wasted these next few months to really make somethin’ happen. The world is always on the lookout for a “Cinderella Story,” and I know American Samoa can give it that story if we all started going that extra mile.
Ya’ll probably thinkin’ what the hell is this guy talking about? Well ladies and Gents I want you all to keep checking in on this website come the SECOND WEEK OF JUNE. I’ve got a couple of major surprises for American Samoa and the whole world in general based on things we the people of American Samoa can do to optimize our way of life while at the same time holding true to who we are as a native people!

“But when they get what they want, the “That Family or the Winning side” gets whatever they want and not everybody wants, which is a better Government, better living, and a better system for each and everyone of us”.
I totally agree…a better government etc.,I really thought this stimulus package would make my day…BUT I really don’t know how our tax office fika the amount couples get, especially couples that file together. What is actually the break-down? How are they sorting out the checks.I can’t get to mines because we don’t get out until 3:30…right Z? I heard thru the grapevine that couples single or married get 3H bucks each including children.I thought married couples ,both who recieve incomes are given 6H
each and childrens 3H….HITTTT ME!!!
By the way , sorry to change the channel. Awesome feedback Rev-D & Z!

LMAO @ common cause! U got some jokes HR! You’re also right about us trying to pick up them tax refunds and rebates. Don’t we have half day or somethin’ durin’ the finals week, maybe we can get out to get sum $$ then. I’m addin’ in to the list you started,
5. By the time American Samoa’s current minimum wages reach the federal standard the U.S. would have raised their’s at least twice more.
6. American Samoa Government licensed vehicles have SPINNERS on their CHROME rims.
Ok stress relieved. Can’t really take action on those topics though when you fink about it cuz I have fot about it right HR! Ha ha ha!

Sacrifice? How many of us in the territory are willing to sacrifice the WANTS of your family, village, or church for the NEEDS of our territory?
Come November are you going to vote for what is best for you and yours or vote for what is best for all of us? I have already been approached by my parents on what ticket to vote for because it would be in best interests for the family. So do I vote for what I hope would be family “security” for the next four years, or do I vote to build a better Territory for the future. Possible jobs for the family to contribute to the fa’alavelave. Inside connections to bring prestige to the village or church. Or is it a chance for all of American Samoa to prosper. I know what I will do, what will YOU?
on May 13th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
Talofa HRB & Z,
I see what you mean HRB, the Tax office really did it this time and i for one do think that they (the Tax office) have used ALL (including Cannery workers) Tax filers of 2007 for this “Stimulus Package”. I feel for the cannery workers for both StarKist and Samoa Paking. This is what i think went down. When the US Treasury asked our government for a plan of how they wud distrbute the “Rebate” Checks, they, ( ASG Treasury) submitted a list of ALL Tax filers for 2007. And in return, ASG recv’d a heffty $20.4 millon. When ASG got the money, it was said that couples that filed joint will get $600.00 each and $300.00 for each of their dependants. Two weeks later, they said couples filing joint gets $300.00 each as well as all of their dependants. Even worse, the word NOT QUALIFY surfaced. And thats where they said all those who are on the Canneries Guest Wokers Act do not qualify. But, all of us including both canneries employees, cast the same tax stone we did in paying our taxes each year.
See, that what i meant. No matter who becomes Gov. & Lt. Gov, things dose change, but not for the good and betterment of ALL but, just the few.
As for Adding on to the “If you fink about it and i have fought about it” i’ll put in my 2 cents later..lmao.
Peace out guys,
RevD

Hmmmmmm…..This is intresting!
Waddup Z, HRB…RevD? i didnt know your into “POLYtics”??Rev?..lmao. i quess there’s more to know about you huh? das cool..ok, i agree with you all on the Corruption in the govnerment. And i too agree with RevD that no matter how hard we try, things will never change for the better. Things may look good during election time but, after that? Boom! down we go again. Its like an Ice Carving Art Show in Alaska. You carve your Art work in Ice (during winter time of course) and you display it for the judges to decide who will win. As soon as the winner is officially announced and being declared, then, you all let the ice melt out and back to reality and wait for the next Winter Show. Things may change a bit but, corruption and stealing, high prices in food items, killings and many other bad things will continue on and will grow. Man can never change what has already being foretold.
Those ASPA Trucks HRB? i think its crazy. Either the Aspa Chairman/Women is a Afoa/Velega ppl or they dont know what the hell they doing and what they are saying when ASPA TRUCKS and its employees are assisting Afoa/Velega team put them banners up!…lmao.

LMAO malo HRB! Welcome Savage, yo Rev shot out to ya! Ok tonight is Monday night, I got my hand on today’s Samoanews and what do I see but a front page headliner reading Afoa and Velega promise changes for future of the youth or something along those lines….
Am I missing something here, sounds a lot like political propaganda… is it ethical out here to put the promises of running candidates on the front page of American Samoa’s major newspaper source and does this show where the allegiances of its editors and owners lie.
Maybe I’m reading too much into it… yea its probably nothing…. what say you all?
